So you’re a college ministry? No.
Okay, you’re an alumni and head hunting service? Nope.
You connect churches and alumni, right? Scratch that.
Then, what exactly does Alumni Connect do?
These are common questions, and even assumptions we encounter when presenting Alumni Connect to individuals and organizations. So we wanted to use this newsletter to share more in-depth about what we do, and don’t do.
People’s’ confusion is understandable! In a world where there’s an organization, service or meetup for just about everything, people naturally try to understand what we do within that framework. So if you’re reading this and scratching your head, we get it!
Our Focus: Alumni as they Begin their Career
We start building a relationship with alumni early (before they start that first job), but our focus is always on the next phase of their life—mentoring alumni as they go out into the world and begin their first job.

Our Call: 1:1 Discipleship
There is no one-to-many setup within Alumni Connect (we don’t even have a curriculum). We focus exclusively on connecting each individual alumni with their own mentor, who will disciple them, where they’re at, in their walk with God.

Our Team: Volunteers Committed to 1:1 Mentoring
We don’t have a staff. We aren’t a group alumni join. We are made of up empty nesters, business people, older Christians—ALL committed to mentoring individual alumni.

Our structure for Alumni Connect isn’t new (although perhaps outside the norm). In fact, there are Biblical models we pull from as we seek to establish and grow mentor/alumni relationships.
- Moses mentored Joshua, which equipped him to lead Israel into the promised land.
- Jesus discipled just twelve men, which He used to build His church.
- Paul invested in Timothy, a young man pastoring a local church.
As we’ve followed this model for Alumni Connect, we are seeing fruit! Alumni are integrating Biblical truth into their life as they go into the workplace, and mentors are able to share from their own experience to encourage and equip alumni in their day-to-day life.
