So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
-1 Corinthians 3:7
We shared last year how we were seeing fruit from meeting with local, regional and national leaders for campus ministries. We’ve built trust and shared our vision.
Now we are excited to be taking the next step—replicating what we’ve done with Alumni Connect in three new cities
We are working with The Navigators, CRU, Intervarsity, and CCO (Coalition for Christian Outreach) to launch Alumni Connect in Fairfax, VA, College Park, MD, and Bowie MD. This partnership allows us to meet alumni and start building a mentor relationship before graduation.
First-Stage Mentors for soon-to-be Alumni
However, Gary and Joani can’t drive to every city and host the senior Bible studies. Even if that were possible, that limits our growth and that is more people than they can mentor effectively. But we also aren’t hiring staff (that’s not our vision).
We have partnered with empty-nesters, older couples and individuals with a vision for discipling alumni. They will be the first step in connecting alumni with a mentor.
We have found individuals who:
- Will connect with soon-to-be alumni, and build relationships with them before graduation.
- Are located close to the universities, so they can host senior Bible studies, and meet in person with those interested in a mentor when they begin their career.
- Committed to establishing trust, which will pave the way for connecting an alumni with a permanent mentor.
Alumni Connect is growing beyond just us, and as God gives growth, it makes it even more clear that we need Him to be at work as we expand and replicate what we’ve done locally, on a regional level.
